Mini Week

The Alaso staff kicked it into high gear last week as we prepared for four SST Minis to happen in one week. Starting on March 12 and going through March 21, we hosted youth groups from Dallas, Amarillo, Houston, and Oklahoma, each with a different focus.

A group of 80 students from the Dallas area church, Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, arrived Friday night, enjoying pizza and a scavenger hunt. The responsibility of the Alaso staff during this Mini was minimal in the sense that we didn't have to be small group leaders or attend classes. However, we did exhaust ourselves supplying water coolers, a bus, and organizing bonfires, to name a few. After a packed weekend of teachings, the students loaded their bus for home early Sunday morning.

Sunday afternoon a small youth group from Oklahoma checked in for the next SST Mini. The students were on Spring Break and had come to serve in the Tyler area and on the YWAM campus. Jonny and Arielle took leadership of this group with several other Alaso and YWAM staff aiding them. More will be posted about this Mini in the future.

Monday evening two 15-passenger vans drove onto campus from Amarillo, Texas, full of students and their adult leaders intent on serving the base and the city of Tyler. They worked alongside the group from Oklahoma and were led by Jake and Brittany. Watch for future posts about this Mini as well!

After a full week of service projects, the Oklahoma and Amarillo groups departed campus, quickly replaced by a small group from Houston, Texas. The heart of this group was to spend time in the classroom, learning more about the different aspects of God and faith in Him. Again, look for more blogs about this Mini from Houston.
